Service Rolex Watch – What happens to your Rolex when you get it Serviced?
How Often Should You Service your Rolex?
Rolex recommends you service your watch every 3-4 years.
What goes into the service Rolex process?
When you send your Rolex in for servicing, it is important for you to realize how in-depth and intricate the service Rolex process is. You need to make sure you select a Rolex service that has the experience and tools necessary to smoothly tune-up your watch. For more information on how to select a Rolex cleaning company, visit our blog post on Rolex Cleaning. To give you an idea of the process, I have outlined what goes into to our most common Rolex Service process (the Pandora Jewelers Rolex Overhaul):
Our Service Rolex Overhaul Includes:
• Service Rolex Step 1: The movement is taken apart and put in a special cleaning solution.
• Service Rolex Step 2: Each part is painstakingly cleaned using a special cleaning solution and precision instruments.
• Service Rolex Step 3: Once all the parts have been cleaned, the movement is re-oiled and put back together.
• Service Rolex Step 4: The back gasket is replaced.
• Service Rolex Step 5: The watch is then timed. Our watchmaker uses a sophisticated, computerized timer to ensure that the watch is running accurately. If it is not, he will recalibrate it accordingly.
• Service Rolex Step 6: The watch is then pressure-tested to ensure that there are no water leaks and the watch is safe to dive with.
• Service Rolex Step 7: The case and band are then polished using a specialized polishing wheel to ensure that the entire watch and each link are properly polished.
• Service Rolex Step 8: After that, your watch is monitored for a few days to ensure it is keeping accurate time.
Each of these steps is done by our master Rolex technician, and as you can see, require a significant amount of skill. Any time you have your Rolex serviced, be sure to select a vendor who is willing to do all of these essential processes.

Rolex Cleaning: Tips for Selecting a Rolex Cleaning Company
As a Rolex owner, you know one important part of keeping your watch in premium condition is to have it cleaned regularly by a professional company. But with so many companies “claiming” they clean Rolexes, how do you decide which Rolex cleaning business to trust?
Guiding Principle: Rolex Cleaning You Can Trust
If you’ve heard the horror stories, you know never to send your watch off to a cleaning company you don’t trust. But with so many purchasing decisions being made over the Internet, it becomes more and more difficult to discern legitimate Rolex Cleaning vendors from scams. If you don’t want your new Rolex to end up in someone’s trench coat being hocked on the streets of New York, use these “best practices” tips to selecting the right Rolex cleaning partner for you:
1. Business longevity – The length of time the company has been in business is a huge indicator that (1) they are legitimate and (2) they aren’t likely to go out of business as soon as you send your watch in. I personally hold to the 5-year rule – if they’ve been in business 5 years or longer, then you are dealing with a stable Rolex cleaning company.
2. Rolex Cleaning Experience – You don’t want to trust your watch to someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. Beware of “false certifications,” as well as those with less than a year of experience – you do not want your prized possession to be someone else’s “learning experience.” Also, make sure the vendor you are selecting specifies Rolex cleaning experience, not just experience with “watches” or “premium watches.” Cleaning a Rolex is a very specific, unique, and in-depth process. It’s always a good idea to ask for a few references as well – better to be safe than sorry.
3. Accessibility – How difficult does the Rolex cleaning company make it for you to contact them? Do they have a PO Box for an address? Do they have a physical location with public access? Beware of Rolex cleaners who clean watches as a side business out of their garage. If their address looks a lot like a residential one, they don’t have a website, and they don’t sound professional over the phone, you are taking a serious risk of having a permanently damaged Rolex.
4. Cost – How much is the vendor you’re considering charging? If they are charging significantly less than the competition, there is likely a reason why. Either their goal is just to get your Rolex in their possession so they can “disappear” or they haven’t invested in new cleaning equipment or training in the last decade. Either way, you get what you pay for.
